- In September 2024, roughly 10,000 workers at Hilton, Marriott, and Hyatt properties walked off the job across eight U.S. cities over Labor Day weekend, demanding better wages and the restoration of staffing cuts made during the pandemic that were never reversed.
- In July 2023, housekeepers at the Hilton Irvine filed a class action alleging the hotel failed to provide functioning panic buttons and required safety protections after multiple incidents of guests exposing themselves and making unwanted physical contact with room attendants.
- Nebraska's attorney general sued Hilton for hiding mandatory resort and destination fees until late in the booking process, a practice known as drip pricing, following a nationwide investigation by all 50 state AGs. Hilton settled in January 2024 and agreed to display full fees on the first pricing page.
- Hilton CEO Christopher Nassetta received $56.8 million in total compensation in 2023, the highest of any hotel chain CEO, while Hilton workers were striking for wages sufficient to cover basic living costs.
