Our Story
In 2025, I hit a breaking point.
Like many of you, I spent my days scrolling through social media, watching a disheartening trend unfold. The companies we rely on every single day for our coffee, our banking, our energy, and our groceries seemed to be getting worse, not better.
From accelerating climate change and actively busting unions, to leveraging systemically racist practices and rolling back protections for LGBTQIA+ communities, the message from the corporate world was clear: Profits matter more than people.
I wanted to stop giving them my money. But looking around my neighborhood, all I saw was one Target, one Bank of America, and three Starbucks locations. With national chains expanding and independent businesses closing, I felt trapped. Where was I supposed to go? Who has the time to research ethical supply chains in the middle of a busy work week?
The catalyst came from an unlikely place: my music app. After using Spotify for over a decade, I learned that the CEO was pouring hundreds of millions of dollars into a military AI company focused on autonomous drones, rather than fairly compensating the artists who built his platform. [source]
That was it. I knew I had to switch.
A friend recommended Qobuz. It was the same price, offered better audio quality, and transferring my library was free and painless. It wasn't a sacrifice; it was an upgrade.
That experience sparked a question: Do people know that better alternatives exist?
If we knew how easy it was to break up with bad companies and exactly who to switch to, would we do it? I believed the answer was yes.
Say GoodBuy was created to bridge the gap between your conscience and your convenience. We are here to do the heavy lifting for you. We research the bad actors, explain why it’s time to leave, and, most importantly, provide you with ethical, consumer-friendly alternatives.

How We Source Our Data
Every reason to avoid a company on Say GoodBuy is sourced from a named publication with a direct URL and publication date. We do not include unsourced claims. Ethical alternatives are manually reviewed — we look for independent certifications (B-Corp, Fair Trade), worker ownership structures, and verifiable sustainability practices. Company pages show a "Last Updated" date that reflects when the data was last reviewed. We update entries when new information becomes available.
It’s finally time to Say GoodBuy. Let's make the switch, together.
